Elise Duncan Trophy

Hayston Golf Club
The annual scratch match against SSWGA East for the Elise Duncan Trophy was played at Hayston today. The team played well to regain the trophy by the narrowest of margins recording a 5-4 scoreline. Well played and thank you to our members who played today.
Despite a couple of showers we were fortunate to get it dry for most of the day. The course held up well after heavy overnight rain and was in excellent condition.
Thanks to Hayston for hosting this match and to Ian Murphy and his team for the excellent food served before and after the match.

The summer meeting was played at Cardross Golf Club today.
This was the qualifying round for our Championship. Four players returned a score of 81 and after a countback Donna Jackson, The Ladies’ Golf Club Troon, was the leading qualifier and winner of the Heather Anderson Trophy for the best scratch score.
The Summer Salver for the best net score was won by Janette McCartney, Erskine, who had an excellent 71 against the par of 74 and won the Summer Salver.
Congratulations to today’s prize winners and all those who have qualified to play in the Championship and the Stewart Trophy which will be played at Renfrew Golf Club on Tuesday 20th and Thursday 22nd May.

We teed off our 2025 season at Troon Portland today with 100 members playing in calm and sunny conditions on a well presented course.
Thank you to Royal Troon Golf Club for extending us the courtesy of the course and to The Ladies’ Golf Club Troon for hosting us today. Our members enjoyed the lovely food and home baking that was available throughout the day.
On a day of very low scoring Lesley Roberston, Ranfurly Castle, returned the best scratch score with a fantastic round of one under par 74. The winner of the Spring Salver, for the best overall net score, was Caroline King, Clober, who had a fabulous net score of 67. The Super Vet Prize was won by Margaret Adams, Gleddoch, with a net 69.

The 54th AGM was attended by 34 Ladies with 74 Apologies received.
Captain Lesley gave a full report of the years golfing events, and advised that all events had been well supported by members, and congratulated all prize winners on their achievements,
A special mention was given to Pauline Patrick, Irvine Golf Club for winning the Scratch prizes across the Spring, Summer and Autumn Meetings as well as having the best overall net score in the Spring and Autumn meetings.
Captain Lesley asked all present to join her in congratulating Gilian Kyle on an outstanding golfing year and finishing the season as the winner of the Scottish Senior Woman's Golf Order of Merit.

Congratulations to Isabel Cullen and Louise Walker on winning the Beddows Quaich Greensomes with a magnificent 45 points. Another couple from the West, Marie Kirk and Jennifer Wiles, were third with 42 points. Fantastic scoring ladies and well done to all!
Gillian Kyle represented West Vets in the SVLGA Championship at Blairgowrie.
In yesterday’s quarter finals she beat Ann Sewell, East Division Champion then in this morning’s semi final she beat Sheena Wood, Northern Division Champion.
In the final Gillian played Martine Pow the Borders Champion. It was a closely contested match with Martine winning at the 17th.
Well done to Gillian on a fine performance over the last couple of days and for representing the West in this event.
