Championship Final Update

Unfortunately, our Finals day at Renfrew Golf Club was postponed as the course was closed.

The Championship was due to be played between Lesley Robertson and Gillian Kyle. Lesley will be unable to defend her title this year as she has broken her wrist and arm and has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Therefore Gillian Kyle goes forward as our West Champion to Blairgowrie.

We all wish Lesley a full and speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her at events next year.

The Stewart Trophy final was finally played at Renfrew on the 7th July.
This was the third time of trying due to adverse weather.
The final was contested by Lynn Black and Sandra Littlejohn.
It was a closely contested match, with Lynn using her strokes wisely and coming out on top, to win 3/1.
The weather was kind to us and Renfrew was in top condition.

99 ladies played in the Summer Meeting at Pollok today.
This is also the qualifier for the Senior Championship knock-out stages at Refrew G.C. on Mon and Tue, next week.

Scratch was won by Lesley Robertson with 76.

Spring Meeting
97 ladies played in the Spring Meeting at West Kilbride.

The weather was very kind to us, considering the course was closed the previous afternoon.

Alyson Hutton won the Spring Salver with a net 71 after countback.

I wish to thank all our players today, who represented the West, in what was  extremely hot and humid conditions, both on the course and driving to/form it.

A high standard of golf was on display,  with the East narrowly winning 3 games to 2 games.

Congratulations to Captain Lesley for scoring two holes in one in the same week round Portland Golf Course Troon, hole 8 and hole 10 what a fantastic achievement!!

One was during a competition and the other in a bounce game..... plus.... Lesley had a hole in one at Blairgowrie last year! Wow!  Well done Lesley

Scotland are Champions
Three West Seniors, Gillian Kyle, Lesley Robertson and Ruth Hunter were in the Scotland Seniors Team who won the Miller Stirling Salver in a nail biting afternoon at Kilmarnock Barassie. Having won the opening two matches against the south and the midlands our girls were one win away from overall dominance. The girls put up a fighting performance against the north but were narrowly beaten by 5.5 - 3.5. A nervous wait on the result of the match between midlands and south added to the tension. This match was thankfully tied and the team and the officials could relax and enjoy the moment. Its 15 years since we last won this event. We therefore congratulate Captain Lynne Fraser and her victorious team for this achievement. All results and final standings can be found on the opening page of our website.
